Overview

OTC Insights Weekly provides comprehensive and ongoing analysis of the (OTC) pharmaceutical market on a weekly basis. This specially prepared weekly data is now easily accessible via the custom download area on the Insights Hub. Users can download the latest data from the previous week every Tuesday, enabling continuous market monitoring and analysis.

Availability

The new way to receive weekly data has been available for weekly data customers on the Insights Hub since May 3, 2024.

Available facts and dimensions

The data includes various facts and dimensions that support detailed analysis:

• week_date: ISO week date (Monday), e.g.  2023-12-25
• calendar_week: ISO calendar week, e.g. 52
• calendar_year: ISO calendar year, e.g. 2023
• pzn: Pharmazentralnummer (pharmaceutical registration number)
• pack: Identifier of the article, e.g. Magnerot Classic N 200 St
• product: Product identifier without size information, e.g. Magnerot Classic N
• product_group: Identifier of the product group, e.g. Magnerot Classic
• brand: Identifier of the brand, e.g. Magnerot
• company: Identifier of the pharmaceutical company, e.g. Wörwag Pharma Gmbh & Co. KG
• sales_ravp: Sales value according to rAVP (average, weighted selling price)
• sales_apu: Sales value according to APU (sales price of the pharmaceutical company)
• units: Sales volume

Format and delivery

The data is provided weekly in the form of an Excel file. New data points are continuously added to the historical data so that users can access the complete data history and integrate new weekly values seamlessly into their analyses.

Special reports and visualization

In addition to the standard flat files, we offer pivoted reports that make it possible to efficiently compare and visualize sales figures such as units, sales_ravp and sales_apu. These horizontally aligned reports make it easy to compare last week and the week before last.

Custom Markets

For users who are also subscribed to custom (aggregated) markets, these markets will also be reflected in the weekly report. This expands the application possibilities of the report by enabling a tailored market view.

Overview sheets

New to our offering are the overview sheets, which provide a clear representation of the configured PZN and the custom (aggregated) markets. These serve as a practical reference for users to quickly view their specific market data.

Tableau Dashboard deprecation and future developments

The Tableau Dashboard for weekly data will be deprecated on May 13, 2024. Until this date, weekly data can be obtained in parallel via the dashboard and via the new method in the custom download area. After this date, the weekly data can only be obtained via the custom download area. In a further iteration, a visualization of the weekly data in the Insights Hub will be available again, as well as an improvement of the benchmarking, which enables an even deeper analysis and comparability.
